![]() This includes two days with John Craven at leading panda reserves to hear his insights into conserving the Giant Panda a visit to the Great Wall and the Forbidden City in Beijing and the Terracotta Warriors of Xian. HOW: The 10 day ‘Meet the Pandas with John Craven’ tour costs from £2,590 per person. These include time with John Craven OBE, household name, presenter of BBC Countryfile and founder of Newsround who has just become the Sichuan Tourism – UK Panda Ambassador WHY? The panda reserves in the Sichuan region of China will be more accessible to UK visitors in 2014 with British Airways launching its first direct flight to Chengdu and specialist escorted tour operator Wendy Wu Tours launching a number of panda focused tours. I'd like to do a couple of day trips but will only do those if the flights are significantly cheaper. As the travel industry gears up for the busiest holiday booking period of the year in January, Lotus UK looks ahead to the top destinations for 2014: Ireland are out so I've already picked my games. I flew Warsaw to Kyiv via Dublin for the final as it was cheaper. One journalist who flew via Vienna explained the routes his colleagues had to take to save money Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Vienna were the popular routes. The morning after the semi final in warsaw they cancelled 4 flights to Kyiv. They started with crazy prices and never dropped. Now South African airlines never dropped their prices and they cancelled loads of flights instead.įor Euro2012 LOT had a monopoly on Warsaw to Kyiv. You will be abe to book at these prices anytime and probably a lot lower.įor south Africa the private airlines broke the cartel in March 2010 and prices dropped significantly - 500 euro return Jo'burg to Cape Town became less than 100 euro return. However in reality just find a price you are happy with. I would expect them to come back down in January but who knows? There will be a spike in prices after the draw. Otherwise If you are following a European team then I'd recommend waiting until January. It does mean indirect flights probably but a decent option. Maybe hold fares with both airlines you might spend a few quid but will take the stress out of the draw. Brasilia is also a flight from anywhere although not as crazy. Fortaleza and Recife are ok from Natal and Salvador is a rough bus ride. I'd also book one of the North East venues Indeed if you had flights to Sao Paulo arriving on the morning of the 12th and Natal anytime on the 12th you could cover a lot 0f options - Porto Alegre, Curitiba, Rio and Belo Horizonte are all possible by bus from Sao Paulo. If you can hold a decent fare I'd try and confirm a return trip to Rio or Sao Paulo or both. Now you may need to be in Sao Paulo by June 12th or could arrive into Belo Horizonte on the morning of the 17th to make your first game. If you can get a decent fare with them it is well worth booking a few options. I think I paid ten euros each to hold Dublin - warsaw and Dublin - Kyiv prior to Euro2012 with KLM. Some airlines eg KLM and TAP (note I've no connection with them) allow you to hold a fare for 24 hours by paying a fee. Click to expand. If you know where you are going I'd book now before the draw. ![]()
